Southwest Gulf: the water and what the app weighs

Southwest Gulf is one of the five South Florida waters Anglrithm reads, each fished differently. The estuaries, mangroves, passes and nearshore reefs from Chokoloskee and Marco Island to Venice. This page sets out what the app weighs here, where its data is weakest, the inlets and built-in spots in the region and the fish scored at them. The hour and the score are in the app.

What the app weighs here

  • Rainfall, runoff and the Army Corps releases
  • Water health and red tide
  • The tide in the passes
  • Seasonal water temperature

The layers and inputs that matter most in this water, as the chart names them. Every one carries its source and its age in the app.

Where the data is weakest

Stations are sparse on this coast and the habitat changes after storms and releases; the app scores reef and inshore fish here only and says so for the rest.

The region is editorial, not a survey boundary: a spot near its edge is read from its own position, not from the region.
